Claws mail questions
 

Newbie here. I use IMAP with lots of folders. Couldn't handle the folders with the standard OS2008 email application, so I setup claws mail. Overall works very well.

#1: I'm having trouble moving messages between folders. I see that when i drag a message to the left, the folder list appears. Problem is that the message list won't scroll while I'm dragging a message. I need to scroll the message list before doing the drag, but I can't get the folder list and message list to appear at the same time. I can only get the combined display while dragging. How do I select to display folder list AND message list at the same time?

#2: I have occasionally gotten claws into the full screen mode, but I can't figure out how I did it. What is the sequence to go into and out of full screen mode? It doesn't seem to be the same as the standard N800 apps.

#3: How can I make claws the email application that comes up when I click on the people icon, rather than the default OS2008 mail software?

#1: You can also move email(s) by selecting the email messages you want to move and choosing claws-mail->Message->Move... This will allow you to choose which folder to move the message(s) to.

#2. You can make it full screen by pressing the full-screen (hardware) button on the top of your N800.

#3 There is not (currently) a way to do this.

It's not possible. But (by scrolling message list, I assume you meant scrolling folder list), the folder list should scroll by itself while dragging if you go near the top or bottom of the folder list...

Tim: Thanks for those tips. Those methods worked as you described.

Colin: The volder list only scrolls a certain number of lines. With all the subfolders, I probably have about 100 folders in my list. It won't scroll that far, except by using the vertical scroll bar (which you can't do while dragging a message). Possibly this is a bug in the application.


Is there a way to select several non-consecutive messages before using claws-mail>message>move? On a Windows PC, I would do ctrl-right-click on several messages. How would I do this on a Maemo unit without a keyboard?

Top right corner there is a small button. Pressing this is similar as holding the ctrl key pressed.

Lately, I've started using the 'menu' hardware button (above 'home' button) after selecting the messages. Pressing this pops the menu which includes also the move selection. It's a little quicker that way..

Hmm, even if you keep moving a bit around the bottom?

Yes, there's a little button to toggle multiple selection at the top right hand corner of the message list.

Yes, even if you keep moving a bit, it will only scroll so far. Must be a limitation in the software.

Thanks for the hint on the multiple selection button. I'll try that. Main use is when I need to delete a whole pile of spam mails.
