Connecting to the internet via bluetooth on PC
Just for the time being, I need to connect to the net via a bluetooth stick in my Linux box (at home) and XP box (at work).
At home, I'm trying RealNitro's instructions (http://blog.eikke.com/index.php/real..._770_over_blu). I get as far as trying: Quote:
The Linux box is Ubuntu 5.10 with bluez installed. Then trying the ifconfig command gives me three SCIOC errors: No such device. Once again, I'm doing something deeply lame and n00bish - any ideas? |
Did you run pand on the PC as root? That was the mistake I made before I got it all working.
I also used this site to do the iptable part on my kubuntu laptop. |
Thanks - I thought I was, but you never know. It didn't come back with anything or appear in top. I'll check again tonight.
Trying on a Windows XP PC now. The BT connection and pairing work! Yay! I can even ping the 770 (192.168.2.2) from the Windows PC (192.168.2.1). The PC is set to share its LAN connection, I've configured the 770's proxies with our local ones, and my resolv.conf with locally-sane addresses thus: nameserver 192.168.100.1 nameserver 192.168.150.1 gateway 192.168.123.254 ... alas, still no connection. Any ideas? |
