Two memory cards - Which type under the backplate??
Hi!
Just upgraded to OS2008 and thought I would put in some more memory. I put a 4 GB SD card under the little plastic hatch (under the stand) it went well and I can see the memory card under memory in the control panel. However, the other place for memory card, under the backplate, I couldn't get to work when I put in the original 128 MB card. And it does really not seem to fit there. Is there only a special type of card that fits in that place? A memory stick pro duo does not seem to fit there, either. Or do my IT have a limit for 4 GB in all? I thougt that I could have at lest 4+4 under OS2008? Happy new year! /Boo |

any full size SD card should work in both slots. If you have a mini- or micro- SD card you will need an adapter.
And yes, you can have 4+4 - I have 8+4 now and it works perfect. |
Re: Two memory cards - Which type under the backplate??
Ok, and I put it in with the contacts faced down, right? My default 128 SD card must fit there then? But I still can't see it as a removable card. I can still only see the first 4 GB SD card under the stand.
Have I missed something? Must I restart the unit after mounting a card under the backplate? Cheers! |

The SD card fits there, but you have to lock it in place by sliding the latch down after putting the card in. The battery cover also has to be in place.

Yes! That's right! When I tested I did not put the backplate into it's position. Now it works, and tomorrow I 'll get another 4 GB SD... Cheers! /bOO |

Hehe....SD cards are all the same size. You can use two 8GB SD cards for a total of 16GB. Pretty soon maybe we can get a total of 32gb support?

Re: Two memory cards - Which type under the backplate??
I got my hands on a 16GB Transcend SDHC card. Wasn't cheap, but it works, and I reckon 2 of them on my N800 will beat an iPod Touch any day if it wasn't for the bad battery life.
I had a full charge before I boarded a 7-hour long flight and after watching 1 episode of a Japanese anime of 30 minutes, the 'battery low' warning came up. How disappointing! |

turn on offline mode. I too get several hours online, and turning power hungry wifi and bluetooth will improve that even more.
Has anybody made any rough timings to see what milage an average device should get out of a full tank, with and without wifi? |
