Amex Points

Over the year I have accrued ~75,000 Amex "Reward" points so I've been debating what I should spend them on. If you had the same amount of points (with 5000 "on-loan" from Amex) what would you blow them on. Sadly, there is not anything in their catalog made by Nokia period, so no N810 (I already have an N800, but a "free N810" I wouldn't mind.

So the options I'm looking at are in the poll. For Other, give the site a look-see and make a suggestion in your comments.

Edit. How rude of me. Here is the site link for the rewards program

Re: Amex Points

I would go back to Russia. :)

Oops, maybe not enough money for that!

It depends very much on what you already have, of course. If I had time, space, and inclination, I would build myself a new computer. Or I would go to the DistroWatch site and click on the MadTux site to get a really cheap new Linux computer.

Or, here's an idea: buy one of those OLPC computers -- they look fun. Maybe you could find someone on the Mesh network they come with?

I used my Amex points to get my N800.

You have more shopping options than what Amex has on their website. Look for a hyperlink on the lower righthand side of the page that says 'Shop with Partners'. This will give you thousands of things to buy some as mundane as inkjet cartidges.

If I were you I would consider getting SDHC memory with your points or even a keychain GPS.

@geneven
Isn't Russia extra cold this time of year ;)

@rdcinhou
I dont see the N810, let a lone the N800 listed on their site anymore.
As far as the SDHC cards, my tablet has a 16GB and an 8GB already. I would replace the 8GB with another 16 but the tablet is the only SDHC compliant device I have. As far as a GPS receiver, my vehicle has that built-in. I have used maemo-mapper with routes preset via Wifi before the drive just for the coolness of it though.

@Syntra
That is the direction I am leaning. Before I bought the N800, I already had an iPod to carry my music around. Which since canola came out, the iPod has been gathering a hint of dust. Any suggestions for the 3 games?

Super Mario Galaxy (sisters haven't stopped playing it.)
Legend of Zelda (engrossing.)
(Wii Sports - assuming they're nasty and take it out the box ;))
Wii Play (not for the game - for the extra controller ;))

Re: Amex Points

Here is a link from them that has the N800:

https://www01.extra.americanexpress....ing=nokia+n800

It is going for roughly 44,000-54,000 points depending on who you get it from.

Click on the Compare Prices button to see who all you can buy it from:

TigerDirect (in stock)
Buy.com (1-2 days)
Amazon.com (1-2 days)
Walmart (no statement)
J&R
Dell

I got mine from J&R.

The Boses are a waste of cash. Good noise canceling, decent comfort (the QC2s are much, much better here), but dog poor audio quality.

Get the Wii!

Actually, this is a great, festive time to go to Moscow. Hotel rates are lower than summer (though still high). Many people go on vacation now, so the subways are practically empty.

The whole system in Moscow centerrs on dealing with Winter, so the only real hazard is slipping in the ice or having ice slide off of rooftops onto you.

I love my noise canceling headphones. They aren't Bose, they are Audio-Technica. I can hear details in music that I've never heard before with them. I don't know how they compare with the Bose ones besides being 1/2 the price, but if I were to lose them, I'd buy another pair the next day. :-)
