OS2008 T-Mobile
I recently took the plunge and upgraded my N800 to the new OS. The interface looked a lot better and I was impressed.
However, I am unable to get an internet connection with my T-Mobile (UK) Sony K610i. The devices pair up ok, but I am unable to access the internet. This used to work ok on OS2007. Just wondered if anyone else has come accross this. I checked the settings against the T-Mobile settings and they seem to be ok. |
Re: OS2008 T-Mobile
I can only speak for T-Mobile USA, but I had a similar issue b/c the plan I had at the time was the $6 t-zones plan, but the proxy settings that the N800 provided were slightly incorrect. Triple-check to make sure that your T-Mobile UK settings are correct.

Re: OS2008 T-Mobile
I encountered the same problem at one point of testing OS2008 releases. Deleting the account from the tablet and recreating it solved the problem for me.
EDIT: gotta qualify by stating that my plan is with AT&T (not Cingular). The solution *may* still work... but I'd try frethop's excellent suggestion (below) first. |

I have the $6 data plan; here are my proxy settings: Access point name: wap.voicestream.net (CHANGED) Dial-up number: *99# (same) Under Advanced settings/Proxies (all new/changed): Use proxy: checked HTTP proxy: 216.155.165.50 Port number: 8080 HTTPS proxy: 216.155.165.50 Port number: 8080 I leave the rest blank because I don't use them. This works for me. |

Re: OS2008 T-Mobile
Folks, are you saying that the $5.99/month T-Mobile T-Zones plan will work decently (with an appropriate Bluetooth phone, of course) for Internet connection with the N800? That's great news if true as I had thought it would only work with the $39.99/month T-Mobile Total Internet plan. Until now, I've only used WiFi with my N800 but if the $5.99 plan works decently, I'll get an appropriate T-Mobile phone (any suggestions as to which ones work?). So... is the connection under the $5.99 plan really fast enough to be usable?

Is it fast enough? It's basically 56K speed... so, you need a lot of patience. I put up with it for a couple of years, and then I finally got so irritated with how painfully slow it is (e.g., 45 mins to do a freakin price check across Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City), that I coughed up another $14 a month for the Total Internet plan. It is somewhat faster, but no where near wifi speeds. |
Re: OS2008 T-Mobile
I'm also in the UK using T-Mobile Payasyougo on an unlocked SE 610 (was virgin). I just use the default settings from the mobile operator setup, and paired my phone oiver bluewtooth and it works flawlessly. Using Web n Walk for £1 a day.
If you go into control panel, and select tools, mobile operator setup wizard from the menu, it'll guide though though it, and set it up for you. Gaz |
