Pimlico?
Anyone know anything about Pimlico as a PIM?

Re: Pimlico?
AFAIK it's just a concept, no files have been released. Plus, they're infringing on PimlicoSoftware's trademark with the name. Seems to be a few somewhat clueless programmers who hope to make something, but haven't yet. Maybe they'll get something out, but they need to change the name first.

It s not just a concept !
Date, Contacts, and Tasks are available in repository for maemo ! http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2007/contacts/ http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2007/tasks/ http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2007/dates/ |
Re: Pimlico?
AFAICS, there is "files" for Bora, but for Chinook released only Contacts. So I can't to test this program, because I have an N810.
OTOH, I just checked the 'Contacts' - this is very simple application (simpler than a standard one) and this application isn't "hildonized" - menu is just an separate and always visible bar under application header. So let's wait. Maybe later this product will more usable, but not now (for me, at least) |
Re: Pimlico?
Shows how gullible I am - I thought the guys making
datebk5 were working on something similar for the tablets ... (which would be spectacular) Ripping off the "pimlico" name makes me think I will *never* use their software! |

Re: Pimlico?
I found the Pimlico Contacts program to be very well integrated with the built-in contacts.
The only real problem I have with it is that their file browser sucks - it can't access "hidden" directories and files (where the name starts with a "."), which makes it pretty much useless for accessing the standard "images" path for adding a picture to a contact, for example. |

I wanted dates, so I went to the date page, it sent me to a home page. The home page had a one-click install, that failed with "conflicts with installed software" but no details as to what conflicted on the screen or in the application manager log. So I tried adding the repository using the directions on the link provided, but that failed with "E:Malformed line 29 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)" The only difference I could see in that line compared to others was a components item (which the distro instructions left blank, so I did) and I added "user" to it in app manager. Failed to refresh again: "E: Failed to fetch http://maemo.o-hand.com/packages/dis...el/Packages.gz 404 Not Found" and indeed, http://maemo.o-hand.com/packages/dists doesn't exist. So whatever the app manager is using to determine that path is wrong or else the repo is wrongly set up. Either way, not usable. Zebee |
