Blog post for N810 running Java

Nice news for running Java applications with graphical user interface on OS2008 - using Jalimo JVM port and Eclipse SWT.Check the full post at http://weblogs.java.net/blog/jfalkne...nd_the_no.html .Did somebody managed to get some screens already ?

Screenshots are available here: http://www.fsfe.org/en/fellows/rober...ether_the_gems

and the Jalimo home page is at: http://www.jalimo.org/

I did install the packages on my N800 running OS2007 and could run the SWT demo. My problem was that I couldn't get anything useful (to me) running (like the Audible Player). I emailed the developers who responded that they are working to get sound operational so I look forward to success in the future.

Thanks - i will take a look right away ! There are a lot of java apps that worth the time to be ported(at least screen size etc.) for use on Nokia IT .

I've spent some time looking at this over the past couple of weeks... Robert Schuster (whose blog features the screen shots mentioned above) has AWT-based support on OpenMoko, but so far on Maemo we only have SWT.

It can't be too far away I'm sure... I've been trying to re-compile Classpath today to support AWT, but there are so many dependencies and things that aren't quite sorted yet that it's really hard to wade in and understand what the hell's going on. :-/

(Plus I spent most of the day getting Ubuntu installed under parallels and then installing scratchbox... cross-development under a virtual machine on another machine.... my brain hurts)

Certainly the Jalimo guys are the ones to watch, I reckon.
