How do you add local scripts to menu? [SOLVED]
I have a bunch of very simple shell scripts which start
various palm apps using garnet vm (e.g. datebk5, palm contact app, etc). These work fine when started from xterm, but there must be some way to customize the main menu so as to insert links to these scripts (I hope). Ideally, I'd like an icon with a label (e.g. Datebk5) to appear in the "My Selections" menu ... Anyone know how to do that? TIA, |

This should help get you started... Just little modification to these and you are all set... :)
I don't know how to set the "applications" to place into "My Selection", but once they are created in "Extras" you can move them manually to "My Selection" by using "Control Panel"/ "Panels". |

many thanks, Mara - worked a treat (now I have one button
startup for all the palm apps I still use) |

Thanks Mara, I have been looking for this solution for a while now.

Re: How do you add local scripts to menu?
I'd like to try this but the .sh script file is not properly readable in Windows Notepad. It shows box characters (I presume for returns).
Is there a simple editor I could use on a Windows PC? (Win XP pro). Thanks. |

If its just simple scripts they should be straight up readable in any text editor. I know I have used Notepad to make quick edits before. |

'Editpad Lite' seems pretty good, and is free for non-commercial use.

Notepad++ is my favourite.

Re: How do you add local scripts to menu?
Thanks to all for their suggestions. I looked for WordPad and, like many others, my Win XP pro did not include it (maybe it's on the CD).
So I have downloaded and installed EditPal Lite. This opened the .sh scrip exactly as I expeced so I'll go with this for now. Cheers |
