Do Nokia Phones Lead Tablets? (And an interesting discovery)
For the sake of argument, I think that if you want to predict what the next Internet Tablet will have on it, look to Nokia phones. All of the cool hardware you see on the N810 was on a phone first: wi-fi, touch screen (remember the 7710?), cameras, Bluetooth, GPS. Even the keyboard is very reminiscent of the 9500 and 9300 keyboards.
Maybe that will start a little discussion... Now...if you accept that premise, check out some Nokia patents filed for S60 touch screen technology. Multitouch interfaces would be sweet on the tablets...and, by the trickle down theory above, we will see them on a future tablet! |

Intruiging.. hand sign recognition without actually touching the screen. Seems more tiring than tapping though.

I wonder why the device in the picture looks like a Palm.

Well... based just on the video support my N95 has versus the N800, I'd have to say yes. I've got files from Stage6, podcasts, Handbrake, etc. that choke both the Media Player and mplayer working fine on here. :(
PS The gesture stuff looks pretty sweet, if it ever comes to light. |
