Better email client
I'm getting really frustrated with the built-in email of OS2008 on my N810. Today it won't start, and that's happened plenty of other times. I get the "e-mail loading" message and then it goes away and nothing happens. Plus (and this may be my misunderstanding of smtp) it keeps a copy of the emails in the inbox even though they are deleted from the server, and anything with an attachment it marks as read even though I haven't opened it on the device. SO I'm fed up with it and want to switch.
What other clients would people recommend, and how do I link them right in to the "View e-mail inbox" button that comes off the main menu? (P.S. Is it possible to remove that icon many-people from the menu? I don't want any of those actions but a shortcut straight to email/WordPy would be acceptable) |

Re: Better email client
yeah, I've had it an hour and seen it crash three times, twice while I wasn't touching it, once while I was scrolling through the main inbox. Close, not not stable enough for me just yet. Any others?

Re: Better email client
Be sure to check out Claws. It has an amazing list of features, is stable and only seems to have a couple of minor bugs that can just be ignored or worked around.

I second Claws mail. It is an impressive mail client - works flawlessly with IMAP, and has a intuitive interface/use of buttons.

Just for info, here's the url for Claws Mail: http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo/

Re: Better email client
and it's Claws FTW!
That does just what I want, so far it's behaved brilliantly. The date formatting is really strange YY/MM/DD, but I can get over that. Cheers for the tip. |

Re: Better email client
Another vote for Claws (I've converted to it 10 minutes ago, and I love it).
Modest wasn't handling very well my huge IMAP mailboxes (at least 5'000 mails in the Inboxes, more than 10'000 in a few other sub-folders). The only issue I have with Claws is that the interface feels cramped on the N800. It's really a desktop application ported to the N800 without taking too much into consideration the form factor of the ITT. But I won't whine for that: all the other features are really excellent! |
