keyboard does not pop up ...hm?

Hello,
since my reflash with the OS2008 onto my N800 I am having problems with some text inputs.
Right here on the forums website: when I click on search, it opens the little search pop-up window just below my viewable area. So I have to scroll down to see it. Then when I click on the text field nothing happens. I have to then click on Advanced Search to be able to fill out the search item field.

Anybody has the same issue ?
What can I do?
Am I simply screwed ?

Is all normal (inside the abnormal aspects of the keyboard behaviour with OS2008)
What can I do?
Wait until a new OS release occurs
