Boot from MMC + install problem
Hi,
does anyone here boot os2008 on their n800 from mmc? i recently noticed a problem with installing programs. when i try to install programs after booting from mmc, i get the error "unable to install" with no further explanations. i thought it was a repository problem so i messed with a lot of the repositories. i later copied the original os on flash onto mmc. tried installing after booting from mmc again, no dice. i boot into flash and tried installing the same program (omweather), and it worked. are there any fixes for this problem or anyone else experience the same problem? i'm running the latest version of os2008. thanks |

2.2007.50-2 2G/8G/KDE MMC boot omweather was installed into int flash, and then OS was then cloned. Booting from MMC with omweather running, no problem so far. Load-applet>List processes to check if any pgm is running without your knowledge, e.g. VNC viewer, rdesktop things like that will stop pgm from installing. Write a test file to your MMC, it becomes readonly when it has corrupt files. Sometime remove virtual mem and re-create it again may solve problem. Oh, AppManager>Tools>log... what does that show, if any? bun |
Re: Boot from MMC + install problem
I tried your suggestions but it's still not working.
Here's my log file: hildon-application-manager 2.0.2 apt-worker: Running 'dpkg --configure dpkg' to clean up the journal. dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0000' near line 1: field name `<?xml' must be followed by colon ----- Installing omweather 0.19.4 dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0000' near line 1: field name `<?xml' must be followed by colon E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2) apt-worker: Running 'dpkg --configure dpkg' to clean up the journal. dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0000' near line 1: field name `<?xml' must be followed by colon It's strange that I am able to install it when booting from flash, but unable to install when booting from mmc. omweather is not the only program affected, i can't install a lot of other programs also. |
