Questions about MiniSD cards - class 4/6?

I'm looking to buy a MiniSD card for my N810 and I'm confused with some of the terminology. Take a look here at these two newegg products.

First is a 4GB SDHC from Kingston that costs $26.99 -

The other is also a 4GB SDHC from Kingston that is priced at $40.99 -

The only difference I can see between the two is that the first is "Class 4" and the second is "Class 6" what is the difference between classes and is it that important that a class 6 over a class 4 should double the price?

Classes are basically a speed rating for data writing:

Quote:

The SDA defines 3 speed classes in order to let users identify speed and performance capabilities of SDHC cards and the host products. The speed class rating specifies a minimum sustained write speed for SDHC cards.

Class 2: >= 2MB/sec
Class 4: >= 4MB/sec
Class 6: >= 6MB/sec
There is also a 20$ 4GB Class 6 option at Newegg from Patriot:

FWIW, the Sandisk 8GB micro SDHC card is a class 2 card. :/

Yes I was looking at that option as well I think I'm going to go with that one. But sometimes price is an indicator of quality.

I agree, but I'll probably go with it also. I need a temporary answer until there are some additinal 8gb options out there.

Better buy a miniSD than a miniSDHC, there are miniSD way faster than those SDHC class 4/6 (I'd personally never consider buying a SDHC thing that is slower than class 6). Price might be similar anyway.

I was about to purchase a MiniSDHC 4GB model Class 6, how much faster are regular MiniSDs? I could easily pick up two 2GB MiniSD cards for the same price or less. I'm buying it to put videos on... do you think a class 6 will be able to handle that?

I was under the assumption that cards to use in the 810 had to be sdhc if over 2 GB. Is this the case?

That's correct. Anything over 2gb has to be SDHC for the N8xx.

SDHC class ratings have to do with sustained "write" speeds. File "read" speeds (on pretty much any card) will be higher than what the N8xxx's could possibly decode for video.

SD up to 2GB max? That's what the official specs say. Did anybody try a >2GB miniSD? I've already experienced working SD cards that exceeded the official specs (w/ my Nokia 6136 for instance). I'll be able to tell you soon for the N810, as I'm about to test w/ a 4GB miniSD.
