format and reinstall nokia n800 / OS2008
 

hello all,

I just picked up a used n800 with OS2008 installed. Being security-minded I don't trust that the OS is free of keyloggers, etc, and would like to wipe the device clean and reinstall the OS.

How would I go about doing this? I didn't get the manual and I don't suspect this info would be in it.

Click and download the software updater, follow the instructions... make sure you have it fully charged first.

so the updater will delete everything on here and reinstall? im concerned it will only overwrite what the OS expects to be there and not actually wipe the device clean.

Yes, it will wipe the device, however, if you have both internal and external cards it will not delete the contents, for that you will have to format the cards to wipe them clean.
