Gjiten anyone?

It was one of my most used applications in OS2007, but altought it seems ported to OS2008, I'm getting an error about a non-compatible package. Anyone had the same problem?

http://gjiten.garage.maemo.org/dists.../binary-armel/ - Try browsing that and using dpkg to install. Not tested.

It does not work for me. I don't have japanese input support as well so I'm thinking going back to OS2007, OS2008 is giving me lot of headaches...

I have managed to install the Japanese support fine in 2008 but haven't tried the dictionary yet.

EDIT. N800 with os2008. Use dpkg to install.

MaemoCJK support with gjiten works fine (its blank because I didn't install the dics yet but that should work too)

qwerty12, can you type in japanese? I have the fonts installed but I have some problems installing scim...

I had cjk installed in a past flash. I never used it to write but Scim did install fine according to my application manager. After installing matchbox keyboard, it worked ok.

Let me try reinstalling the Japanese cjk and I'll get back to you.

For some reason, matchbox-keyboard wouldn't write in this reply box so I've been through a series of installs & uninstalls.

I'm pretty sure maemocjk works fine & gjiten should too (I installed for an quick test without dictionaries). I guess it is personal preference, 2007 or 2008.Although I guess 2007 is easier for Japanese support.

BTW: I don't know Japanese, so excuse the typings. Personally, I find the cjk interferes with os a bit so I am just going to set up a separate partition and install the CJK,gjiten & some sdict Japanese dictionaries there.

I've tried a few times installing and uninstalling as you said and finally is working. Anyways, OS2007 CJK works much better, you can swap from the standard keyboard to the matchbox keyboard on the fly, but now is not possible as I read in the CJK webpage.

Gjiten also works finally!

thx for trying and helping me, much appreciated!
