Eleksen Wireless Fabric Keyboard
 

How awesome is this thing? Anyone ever try it out? I think I'm going to get one. They're ~$80 on Amazon. Any thoughts? It's bluetooth so it should be compatible with the N800 right? I saw a thread that someone posted a while ago, but no one ever responded...? This, in my humble opinion, is by far the best portable keyboard out there. This is definitely where the future is going.

The product site goes out of its way to list a myriad of drivers (no Linux in sight, of course!), which leads me to suspect this is not a HID-compatible device. In other words: The Freedom Keyboard fiasco all over again?

In any case, I no longer buy from companies that mention Windows and not Linux.

The gripping hand: As with the infamous laser projection keyboards, tactile feedback is zero, so this thing is not for touch typists. PHBs with a Linux fobia might like it though...

I got such keypad for testing for a few weeks. I used a O2 XDAII with this keypad. Setup was easy with the instruction that came with the keypad.

The use of the keypad is quite OK but high speed typing is a challenge. There is no 'click' feeling what you usually have on plastic keypads. Because of this missing click feeling on your finger tips you are not sure if you actually activated the key - it does most of the time but I kept on looking on the screen to make sure the character is there. After some training it gets better but still ....

Another thing is typing capital characters. You need to push first the shift key and the the character. NOT both of them at the same time! That's not a bug but the way the fabric sensor in this keypad works.
Nevertheless this fabric keypad is a neat product that can wrap around the PDA/cellphone to protect it and is still faster and better for typing longer text on those devices. But it is for sure not a replacement for a regular keyboard at home of office.
