install any debian code?

Chinook OS2008 is debian, right? Can't I install any debian applications I want?

Re: install any debian code?

No, they have to work with the ARM processor, so a conversion is necessary.

We should add this question to the FAQ file, along with a better answer than mine.

Re: install any debian code?

@geneven: Debian has an ARM port.

@brownie: That being said, ITOS is *based* on Debian, but isn't quite Debian. Many Debian packages will have dependencies that can't be satisfied without conflicting with packages in ITOS. However, you can make a Debian chroot and run commandline packages inside it without problems. Also once you setup scratchbox and get mud-builder many debian packages can be easily rebuilt and their control files fiddled with to get them working.
