N810 Changes the format of my text
Two examples of how my text is being changed.
1. Claws Mail: I wrote a signature and saved it as a .txt file. It looked fine as I saved it BUT when I compose mail it encapsulates it in what looks like HTML text: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html><head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <meta name="generator" content="Osso Notes"> <title></title></head> <body> <p><br></p> <p>Regards,<br></p> <p>Derek Finch.<br></p> <p>Sent from my N810</p> </body> </html> 2. I imported a plain text file to view in Notes (.txt append). It used 'typewriter text' (Courier). I wanted a sans serif style and had to convert it to native format to allow formatting options to appear in the menu. I selected all, changed the font to sans serif and saved over the original file. Net time I opened it, I got the same header and HTML characters throughout the text. It had also reverted back to Courier style. What am I doing wrong? :( Thanks for amy input. |
Re: N810 Changes the format of my text
Claws Mail doesn't write HTML. Use plain text, not html...

Re: N810 Changes the format of my text
colinleroy, thanks for your response.
I thought I was using plain text by using a 'Notes' generated signature file. Should I not use a .txt append or is it the 'Notes' 'Formatted text' that is HTML? Perhaps I shouldn't use the 'Formatted text' option, just the 'plain text' style? |
Re: N810 Changes the format of my text
I did some tests and it is in fact the 'Notes' applet that uses HTML in its native format. I just switched to plain text and everything is ok. Thanks for the pointers.

Re: N810 Changes the format of my text
You could also try 'leafpad' which is a better editor especially if you need to edit scripts etc.
Anyway, Free has made a package that works with os2008. http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...leafpad&page=1 |
Re: N810 Changes the format of my text
From the screen shot I saw this looks like an HTML editor. Correct?
