How's your screen holding up?
After about 4 months I'm removing the original cover on my screen, as it is worn. Would someone who removed the cover from day one and has had their N800 for 3-4 months or longer comment on how well does the bare screen hold up to constant stylus pressure. Does the screen show wear, especially along the right edge?

Re: How's your screen holding up?
I used the factory screen protector for appx. 1 week, then I installed a slightly- modified psp screen protector. It works great! If you go this route use a Hori brand, it's the best quality. And ALWAYS use a screen protector.

Re: How's your screen holding up?
i've never used a screen protector on my n800 and rarely used one on my n770. i've had the 770 forever and the n800 since they came out (i bought a review sample). neither screen shows even the slightest amount of wear. i use the supplied stylus with each, except when i use a pencil (lead) or a ballpoint pen. i carry the nits around in my pockets all the time.
i also have a sony clie palm device that must be at least 4 years old. i used the plastic screen cover that came with it for a few weeks but finally got tired of it. i lost the stylus after a few months and have used any sharp object (pencil, pen, screwdriver, fork tine, rock, etc.) on that screen since then. still shows no damage. john |

The subject's been covered pretty extensively in the past, so you might be able to glean some useful information from these threads:

Re: How's your screen holding up?
I've had my N800 for over a year now, and the screen does show some wear on the right.
One thing you won't get from older threads is newer information. |

My 1year+ N800 is still 98% good, without a screen protector. I've (carefully) cleaned it a couple of times.

Re: How's your screen holding up?
For mine I bought a 4 € antiglare PSP screen protection and cut slightly the border to make it fit in the Nokia N800. After 4 months of using it with the PSP protector, I can say is worth it. No scratches, perfect visibility, hundred times better than the given protector.
Paying 4 € euros is not so much, give it a try. |
