I am NOT happy with my built-in GPS and the location of the D-pad
Just returned from a trip. Very upset about the built-in GPS system. And the location of the Dpad prevented it from being use when it is mounted on the winshield.
It took forever for the N810 to get a lock with the GPS, 5+ minute is the least, and there is NO telling when it would actually lock. Once it is locked, it does 'unlock' more frequently then the BT GPS. However, it does work with a BT GPS, and locked within seconds AND functioned just as good as in my N800. Good news, bad news......not sure. And the switch to external GPS is easy. Ok, just not to confuse the non-initiated. Yes, I am turning the built-in GPS OFF and swithed on an external BT GPS. Now, this is the bad part for Maemo Mapper. One has to use the Dpad to 'auto lock' current position. And the Dpad is located at the keypad which requires to be slide out. When the N810 is mounted, you can not get the keypad out without physically take it down. I put down my bet, the Dpad is going to be 're-located' in the future tablets. The present position make it inaccessible when mounted as GPS, as it advertised for this particular upgrade......or downgrade:(. My beloved N800 do not have this problem. Edit: GPT-801 Bluetooth GPS Receiver, from newegg.com $44.95 9 months ago when most BT GPS are selling over $100. bun |

Grin. These were exactly the two "dislikes" that I posted in my comment to the "N810: Now in YOUR pocket" blogentry on tabletblog.
