Yes, works and rather good. The error is puzzling since the file it complains about is right there.

next step will be to connect fullscreen and zoom buttons.
but i still can't find where F6 can be assigned to fullscreen (instead of F11)

If you edit the control file and change Section: from 'unknown' to something starting with 'user' then it'll be installable from the application manager and not only via dpkg commandline.
E.g.
Section: user/other
