Problem with extended root patrition
Hello everybody,
I'm a newbie to n800, and I have some problems extendig the root partition to 2GB SD card. I've follower the instruction in this tutorial: http://www.ice2o.com/blog/?p=11 I've successfully formated, and mounted both vfat and ext3 partitions, also the "extfs" and it contents are listed in the File manager, and when I 've copied the data from /usr/share/ it was listed too. The problem is only in the final step of the tutorial. Step 4 - Transferring data from Flash to the partition This is the easy bit. You can transfer any data you want from the flash memory to your new partition. If you then create a symlink to the new location it will be accessible just as it was previously. Good candidates for moving are /usr/share and /home. eg: cp -a /usr/share /extfs rm -r /usr/share ln -s /extfs/share /usr/share When I execude rm -r /usr/share everything (on the screen) goes white, and after that the n800 can't boot in to OS. I've even tried to make the link first and then to remove the original /usr/share folder, but the results are the same, after rm -r ... I need to reflash the n800 in order to bring it back to live. Please them we what I'm doing wrong, I really want to extend my root partition. btw, I'm using the latest stable OS2008 release - RX-34_2008SE_2.2007.50-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM |
Re: Problem with extended root patrition
if you get tired of this, consider booting from mmc directly, you'll save yourself headaches like this. Here is nice summary of advantages
