Service port?
 

What are those contacts beside the battery? It looks like a series of gold dots, several of which have an indentation (like a contact point) in them. I'm assuming a service port, but I also noticed that I can see the inside of the USB port through this.

Anyone with a clue about electronics held a multimeter up to it?

There are 5 contacts on the 'bottom' row, and 6 on 'top'. This is more than a standard USB arrangement so I could be way off on that.

Any ideas?
