How to reflash your tablet?

My N810 is acting very bugging and I can't find out the cause, I'd like to just do a total reinstall, and apparently thats called a reflash. Can someone explain what I need to do in order to make that happen?

I figured I could just run the updater again but I can't tell if it has pulled down the latest version or if it is using the version that I suppose it was downloaded with. How can I tell?

Edit: After moving further forward in the wizard I see that it shows the version of the software it will install, I'm all set now, thanks : )

Hmm, I don't know, but it does say that the updater will automatically update with the latest release. I guess you could give it a try, and check to see what version you get. The link in the first paragraph on the page I linked shows you what the latest version is.

Edit: Ah, OK, good to know that it tells you in advance!

It hasn't happened to me yet, but based on experience with the Zaurus, I may eventually need to restore the OS on my N800. I have upgraded from OS2007 to OS2008 so I understand that process, but what happens if I can't get the N800 to connect via USB?

In the Zaurus there is a "magic" key combination that gets the device into Maintenance mode, and from there you can do a NAND restore of the entire OS from an SD card. Is there an equivalent on the N800? If so, how can I back up the entire OS image so I have something to restore? The built in Backup/Restore program only seems to deal with User data, not the OS.
