Nokia Maps
 

Hi... I installed the Map app but can't seem to get the maps to download. I get an error saying download failed. It's the USA EAST map that I'm trying to get.

What's your internet connection? For me, when I was on satellite internet I could never get it to download. Either through the maps application or the navicore website But I gave the link to my girlfriend and she could access and download it for me.

My n800 is connected to my home wifi network which is cable modem. I also tried a public wifi access point with same results.

Check how much space you have: I installed the USA West maps before a recent trip to the states and although it looked like I had just enough space it failed. I cleared up some space (deleted France) and it was fine second time around.

My guess would be that at least part of the download is compressed and needs temporary disc space for unpacking.

Check to make sure that you have enough space on the Internal Memory card, otherwise it may not allow you to install new maps.

Make sure that there's no proxy between you and the download server. I was able to download (but it took 5 attempts as the download was always cancelled at some point) when connecting to a VDSL line at work.
But the download immediately fails when trying it via T-Mobile EDGE; they make you use a proxy.

To sum it up: Wayfinder, your download server sucks! :(

Thanks for the replies. I dont go thru a proxy, just Linksys router. I guess I'll keep trying.

If you have access to a computer. Try going here and downloading the maps.

http://www.navicoretech.com/Consumer.../en_GB/tablet/

You'll have to untar (just use 7-zip if you use Windows and don't feel like using the command line on the n800), then copy the data to the maps folder.
