Re. the multimedia architecture ...

Very interesting information. From these diagrams, however, it looks as though there is no way at all for 3rd party s/w to program the DSP to do additional work. Is that correct?

(I'm thinking of Ogg Vorbis decoding, in particular.)

Thanks - Neil

I would say you are probably right but no manufacturer is going to support that level of hacking in their released documentation. If you want to reprogram the DSP you are going well beyond most hackers and you probably will get very little OEM documentation (if any).

Maemo 2.0

Maemo 2.0 is coming. When? I don't know. What? Here's the Roadmap.

No. You can add your own dsptask. But the amount of work you need to do and skills you need to learn is probably not worth the result.

Fantastic pointers, thanks! I haven't read these in detail, yet, but I'm not sure I agree that it isn't worth it. My interest is in Ogg Vorbis, which I prefer for legal reasons over MP3. The existing Ogg Vorbis player is nice, but the playback (using main CPU) does have occasional glitches, which I would presume would vanish if decoding used the DSP instead.

as for ogg I think it will be in next OS version http://www.gossamer-threads.com/list...pers/1892#1892 but if you have spare time, go for it

see also (old and maybe outdated) threads about tremor and C55 http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/trem...er/thread.html

also if you have tremor dsp task running you should integrate in into gstreamer somehow, there are no sources for gstreamer mp3 dsp plugins running in N770
