How Do I Save Apps On A Cd?
I have always made a habit of saving copies of an application's installation file on CDs in case the app becomes unavailable for download in the future. (I like to keep my computers and operating systems for as many years as possible.) Being new to Linux, I don't know how to do this with the apps for my N800 w/OS 2008. Can someone tell me how to save copies of the installation files of any given program onto a CD?
Thanks |
Re: How Do I Save Apps On A Cd?
Hi
when you download a program threw Application Manager or apt-get it saves the .deb files in /var/cache/apt/archives until the cache is cleared copying the files from there should be easier then browsing the repository manually because it has the dependencies worked out for you |
Re: How Do I Save Apps On A Cd?
You could also visit the various repositories via a web browser and download the armel packages you want to backup.
For example: http://people.debian.org/~tschmidt/maemo/chinook/ |
