Pin code for N810

I want to use my phone through the bluetooth as a data port for my N810 but my phone wants to know the Pin code for the N810. Any idea what this is?

Whatever you want it to be ;)

Use same chosen code on both devices.

Re: Pin code for N810

iirc, the pin asked for is just a one time symmetric encryption system so that they "know" they have the right partner, and that they can then start to exchange public keys. but i could be totally wrong...

How do I first set the code? Is it through the control panel?

Re: Pin code for N810

its auto generated by the N810 when one first do the pairing. but this is alterable if the device at the other end dont allow for a custom key entry (keyboard, headset and similar).

basically a dialog comes up to ask what code to use, and a number is shown inside the entry box. if you just hit accept, then enter the same number at the phone end and thats it.

for a headset or similar more often then not you instead alter the number to 0000 or something similar at the N810 side and its done. but watch out, some bluetooth keyboards expect you to key in the code using the keyboard number keys at its end...

When I first tried to pair my Nokia N810 and my Sanyo Katana there was no generated code for the Nokia N810. I then set a 6 digit code for the N810 but my bluetooth code is only 4 digits and I'm not sure how to change the code on it so that they have the same code.

Re: Pin code for N810

err, your referring to the unitlock now?

thats something different from the bluetooth pin entirely...

when pairing two devices over bluetooth one just enters the same pin on both devices when requested (unless one of them have a hardcoded pin, keyboards and headsets have that most often).

some bluetooth devices, like computers, try to help the user by generating a random pin at its end each time that dialog comes up. if one accept that pin, one have to key the same pin in at the other end.

If you didnt write down te 4 digit code just pair the two devices again and it will give you a new 4 digit code. Make sure to write it down this time.
