Updating to OS2008 when you've already partitioned
Hi,
I haven't yet updated to OS2008 as I'm concerned that by doing so I'll lose all the various bits and pieces I've installed on my N800 in the last 6 months. In particular, I've partitioned the internal card, and boot off mmc2. I know how to back up all my data, but it seems to me that by installing OS2008 I'm likely to lose all the additions I've made to the system (e.g. xterm, vpn, pptp, java, etc). The only instructions / threads I've come across are to do with updating the OS followed by performing a partition. Can anyone reassure me I won't lose everything by updating, or suggest a foolproof way of backing up my current system. Hope this makes sense Cheers Hemlock |

You'll lose everything. But a backup would allow you install back your apps (see various threads complaining that sometimes that are problems) I'd suggest only update OS for the internal flash, make it still dual bootable and keep the mmc intact unless it became buggy!
