Hardware Keyboard behaviour
Hi,
I was reading all related to keyboards layouts, but I didn't found nothing about I want to do with it. My question is: Can I configure the hardware keyboard for get it working like HTC TyTN II keyboard? I'm spanish speaking person and I own a TyTN II too. The TyTN II has an english keyboard too but if I need an accented letter I can do it by press the letter then I press FN + SPACE BAR and it will cycle all kind of accent for previos pressed key, so I can write á, é, í, ó, ú, ä, ë, ï, ö, ü, õ, ñ and so on. It can be done in our N810 doing any specific configuration? Regards, Taguapire. |
Re: Hardware Keyboard behaviour
You can press Chr + letter one or more times. See http://europe.nokia.com/A4686057.

Re: Hardware Keyboard behaviour
Wow.... I never knew. Unfortunately, there's still no quick way to get a pipe "|", is there?

Re: Hardware Keyboard behaviour
It's very easy to create one (and a Tab too, and others).
Look at the thread on how to edit your rx-44 file. |
Re: Hardware Keyboard behaviour
It seems that the 4th column (which should correspond to Fn+Shift, I assume) is not taken into account, even without modifying the file. For instance, the file contains: comma, less, comma, less. But Fn+Shift+comma yields a comma instead of a less (only Shift+comma yields a less, as expected). This is a bug, isn't it?
In fact, I would like Fn+Shift+\ to yield a [, Fn+Shift+/ to yield a ], Fn+Shift+( to yield a { and Fn+Shift+) to yield a }. Also, how can one configure the sequence of characters given by pressing Chr and some key repeatedly? For instance, I would like Chr+Up to be PageUp. |

I didn't know that Chr key had that function. Some one knows what is the thread for get rx-44 file dited? Regards, Taguapire. |
Re: Hardware Keyboard behaviour
I could see two threads: The Pipe Character and Virtual keyboard layout change/mod? but they don't contain much information. The file to be modified is "/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/nokia_vndr/rx-44" (however, see my previous message about the 4th column). And this file will be re-read by the system after killing the /usr/bin/hildon-input-method process that has (most often) the largest PID, as said here.
