Offline calendar in Nokia N800?

Apologies for my extreme newbie-ism.

I would like to have a calendar available on this N800 when I am not in a wifi area. Is that possible? And contacts with addresses? (Yes, yes, I know this is not a PDA as such, but I can cut down on what I have to carry around if I can just get an offline calendar and a few addresses in here that I can access from anywhere). Any help?

Thanks.

Yes there is, its called gpe-calendar. Its a calender/appointment program, (similar to the one on Palms). Also, another program called Erminig can automatically sync Google Calendar and gpe-claendar.

Thanks--I actually found that program and the way to download it...but it was an installer so I did nothing and came here. So I download it to the PC...and then what? Install it in the PC first? Or will the sync program you suggested do the job of transferring it to the Nokia...and then install it on the tablet? How far do I go with it once downloading it to the PC?

Thanks again.

You download the files on the N800 and the application manager will load to install it.

Unfortunately gpe-calendar cannot import .ics files generated with iCal. I get an error: Error reading calendar file .../Home.ics: invalid format for type "DURATION" in attribute TRIGGER!

Edit: This seems to be GPE bug 25, which was fixed a few months ago, but the gpe-calendar I have may be too old...

Apart from flashing the device and transferring media to it, you generally do not need a PC for interfacing with the tablet. To do much of the program installation you use the "Application Manager" which is a tool that installs applications as well as tells you when there are updates to the software. If you want to learn a lot about how things work on the tablet there are some great videos found at
