N810 wimax in canada?
Anyone knows if there will be a possibility of connecting to Rogers portable internet or Bell's unplugged? Both are Wimax networks? Currently you need to tote their modem around and connect the modem to a power outlet everywhere.

there isnt any other decent wireless broadband services in canada it would be especially nice if i could use the n810 as a wimax modem for my laptop |
Re: N810 wimax in canada?
someone posted a map of wireless networks and the colour of canada was different from that used in the us. Your network is 3.3 - 3.8 i guess.... wheras the one in the us is 2.5- 2.8. But i am not dead sure

Re: N810 wimax in canada?
Actually, I believe the Rogers/Bell Inukshuk WiMax network is also at 2.5 GHz. See http://www.wimax.com/commentary/blog/blog-2008/limited-wimax-penetration-in-canada for details.
But there are still problems. One is that Inukshuk uses pre-WiMax technology and that might not be compatible with the N810. The bigger problem though is that the network is owned by Bell/Rogers. They are making a mint the way things are and the last thing they want is change. Allowing people to do VoIP on a WiMax network would be a threat to the high margins they currently enjoy on their cell networks. Primus is probably a better bet (but only if you live in Toronto or Hamilton). |
