Citrix Java Client Working
I haven't experimented too much, but I seem to have the java citrix client working. It is pretty much unbearably slow, and it only works with a hard keyboard (or something like xkbd), but it may be of use to some people. Here are the rough steps.
These are the rough steps to get it working. Like I said, it is REALLY slow. Also, I can't seem to be able to run seamless mode. Plus it seems to crash after a short period of time. So in other words, it's not very useful, but maybe someone will have more success than I :) Once they get an OS2008 version of PhoneME working, I may give that a try, but I don't think it will be useful enough for any real use. |
Re: Citrix Java Client Working
I've really no use for citrix, but the cool thing is, you've confirmed an applet running via jalimo; with some work (maybe greasemonkey?) it should be possible to convert embedded applets in web pages to links, allowing you to run the applet. Or of course, a Java plug-in, but that's more real work.

Re: Citrix Java Client Working
It would be awesome if this could be tweaked to run at an acceptable speed.

Yes!
Citrix would really rock on the N810. Another step to replace my laptop for business trips. :) |
Re: Citrix Java Client Working
In terms of general use for java applets, be forewarned that I have found the following...
As for browser support, someone could probably get some kind of greasemonkey script working, but there is also a plugin called gcjwebplugin that is supposed to be a firefox plugin that uses gappletviewer to run applets embedded in the browser. However, to me this would just create more overhead further decreasing perfromance. Finally, it looks like the version of gappletviewer and maybe even gnu classpath that is being used in Jalimo may be a little old. I wonder if we got a newer port if it would work better. Anyway, I would be interested in hearing the progress of Sun's PhoneME for OS2008 if anyone has any info. I think it would be worth a try. Along those same lines, has anyone tried using SUN's appletviewer in PhoneME on OS2007? |

Re: Citrix Java Client Working
You may. ;)
Because often enough I end up having to VNC through Citrix. Ever "worked" across the world through VNC-Citrix-VNC? No - lucky you. :D |
Re: Citrix Java Client Working
Hmm, doesn't sound good. I do feel lucky.
But in that case, why not RDP? RDP-Citrix-VNC; just so when someone asks you which you use, you can say "yes". ;) |

But if your corporate IT dep't is using Citrix, they're probably going to say, "What's SSH? Are telling me to be quiet?" Quote:
