I was looking at another unit for 5 bux more that had better specs. heres links to both so you can compare. http://www.buygpsnow.com/holux-m1000...mount-826.aspx and http://www.buygpsnow.com/GlobalTop-G...-Off)_914.aspx the GlobalTop is 5hz and 20 hours, and its 51 channels. for 5 bux more what do you think? thanks |

Re: Help Me choose GPS
All receivers mentioned above work fine. Any NMEA-compatible GPS (most are) will work. Go for SiRF star III chipset (i.e. the iblue one), or the MTK chipset (the one in the units in the first posting). As for 5Hz, 5Hz is sometimes nicer than 1Hz (faster updates, you can imagine yourself where that would or would not make a difference), but 5Hz uses more GPS battery than 1Hz. The M1000 is 1Hz out of the box, but there was a thread here a while ago about a utility program to switch it to 5Hz for those who needs it.
