Developing maemo on kubuntu

I recently purchased a 500GB external hard drive for development of KDE and other things. I just needed more space. I downloaded ubuntu which is what I was using for my other development. I installed it and had some problems with my wlan card not working. I decided to try kubuntu and it worked, but took a little fix.

echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/vdso_enabled

Without this maemo SDK fails to install ( A kernel update later which was not needed and a lot of googling found a fix)

Indication: installing maemo 4.0.1 SDK on kubuntu, you receive these errors

when running - ./maemo-sdk-install_4.0.1.sh

Check for scratchbox sessions running...

Other than my scratchbox problem, which is now solved its working great. I love the network manager, the bluetooth applet. Its really nice

I am a RedHat guy, and not an ubuntu lover. I like kubuntu though, it seems much more polished than ubuntu, even down to the installer.

Anyway, just my thoughts, and a little info on scratchbox on kubuntu

Re: Developing maemo on kubuntu

Been doing some playing around, getting my environment setup.

I installed Kubuntu onto a USB drive and booted my laptop off of it. What the really awesome part is. I can also boot up windows and run Vmware workstation and boot the USB drive in a window. I can use it as a real os or a virtual os. I even installed vmware tools and it seems to still be working well in the physical world.

I can switch back and forth at will,
