memory noob question

I bought a separate memory card and am now installing apps left and right into my N810 and want to know where these apps are being installed, either on the internal or the separate card.

Can I change them or move them without harm?

In internal flash, not on a card. Unless you choose to clone the OS to MMC and dual-boot. (You can google for it on this forum's home page.) Use the app mgr to change them.
