[Canola] I can't install canola
I'm trying to install it on an N800 running OS2007. The only repositories are maemo, maemo extras, and the two nokia repositories. The tablet is less than an arm's length from the wireless router, but when I try to install, it downloads about half way and says, "Install failed." Here's the log:

Re: I can't install canola
Hi Coffe : the failed to fetch is because your connection to the server is not ok, this message maybe because you are behind some kind of firewall, proxy or something like this that is causing problems.
Can you try installing another big application from the extras? Also : can you try this on another connection? Tip: we are going to drop 2007 support really soon. I really advise a upgrade as soon as you can if you want to still use canola : / Cheers Marcelo |
The local library has wifi; I'll try to install canola there this weekend, and I'll let you know.
I'm hanging on to OS2007 because Spend It doesn't work on 2008, and internet banking and an electronic checkbook program are the only things that stand between me and bankruptcy. ;) I really should learn GTK; then I could write an OS2008 checkbook myself and upgrade. |
Re: I can't install canola
Ah coffe :) I see then : /
Well did you try installing the other applications from the same repository? Cheers Marcelo |
Re: I can't install canola
I went to the library yesterday and tried to install canola, but I couldn't install anything; they must have some sort of filter on their wifi network. Today, I looked at the installing->details screen under canola2 in application manager--where it says, "canola requires the following dependencies to run . . ."--I sshed into my tablet from my desktop, so I'd have a keyboard to do what looked like a major operation, and I installed those dependencies about five or ten at a time with "apt-get." The computer told me that it couldn't read a key to verify that these packages were correct, but I just accepted on faith that they were. And now I have canola. Yay!

Re: I can't install canola
Yes, all applications that are not from Nokia display that they cannot verify the packages :)
I'm glad that you made it, but it's really odd that you are facing this. It looks like your application manager was bad : / Marcelo |
