Maemo vs Nokia Map GPS startup
 

Hi,

New owner here. I just found this problem with the Maemo map with the build in GPS. From a cold boot, the Maemo took about 15 minutes to get a lock on the gps. I shut it down, turned it back on, then ran the Nokia maps instead, which took about 30 seconds to get a lock on the gps. The next day, I tried the same thing but ran the Nokia Maps first which took also about 30 secs and then the Maemo map took another 15-20 minutes. Hmm... Could this be a software issue? Can someone try this?

You need to start up gpsd. Nokia map does this automatically. I am playing with a prog from the developer page that starts gpsd and logs tracks, but the easy way is to run Nokia map, minimize it then run Maemo Mapper.
Someone said that the latest Mapper will start gpsd itself.
