Some people act as though they must never, ever use a guarantee because it would be somehow admitting defeat. |

I had trouble with my first N800's, and I found Nokia Canada to be very helpful. That was a true breath of fresh air and they exchanged my problematic units without grief and quickly. Mrs Bellanger in Ontario gets my rose for A1 real customer service. Only gripe might be having to ship multiple times at $25 per package, with no credit to client for expense. and now for my sales (small) rant: That said, it has been my experience in numerous other examples of general products from retailers, that warranties and guarantees are often nice in advertising but rarely demonstrated sincerely in real situations. So prior to Nokia, I usually wouldn't even bother, as there is often equal secondary expense(return shipping) or negative attitude and willful obstruction by various stores and suppliers. I get your point though, and maybe it is admitting defeat or perhaps more like 'conservation of energy'. ;) |
Re: Works!
Hi folks
Great forum. Been most handy. I just got my n800 today and started the initial charge about 1 hour ago. How long do people recommend I charge for first time? Will the tablet tell me when it's fully charged? Basically, I'm impatient and want to start playing with it now and install os2008 but I also want to ensure I get the most out of the battery and try and avoid the on/off enigma. Do I need to wait any longer? Apologies as I'm sure this has probably been covered before somewhere but couldn't find an exact answer in search. |

However, one thing you should not do with the tablets or any other portable computer is to switch it off. Switching off a computer and then switching it on again uses a LOT of battery life, because a computer's startup process is so complicated and uses the processor so much. The battery will last much longer if you just leave the tablet switched on all the time. I know it sounds crazy but it's true, try it for yourself, it can be left switched on for many days. There's a tutorial about saving battery life on the tablets here: http://tabletschool.blogspot.com/200...e-battery.html Quote:
Maybe things are different here in Europe, but I've never had problems returning a defective item to a retailer or manufacturer. There's usually no postage either, because it's almost always done through a shop or repair centre. It's the same for low-value items like CDs, I've never had problems if I take back a CD to a music shop, usually they don't even bother to check if it is defective. |
