has anyone used boingo in the uk?
I have signed up with boingo but havent found any hotspots with boingo branding.
The boingo web site has press releses saying they peer with BT and the cloud, but local cloud hotspots dont list boingo as a partner.

I did sign up once just to see but like you never had any sucess getting in to a BT hotspot. I have up in the end. You may want to have a look at FON. If you have a fon router at home then you can use a lot of BT access points for free.

Boingo worked fine for me at London Heathrow T4 last week but failed to 'log on' at T5 last Monday.

I have used it in Belfast airport fine, that's a BT access point

Thanks for the feedback, I didn't think I was the only one to try this.
boingo's hotspot finder does talk about airports a lot. Maybe it's just some BT and cloud hotspots that work and not all of them.
how is connection handled?
do you have to select boingo as a partner?
does a boingo connection daemon kick into life automatically when you connect to the hotspot?
or do you need to have the boingo application running?

I use the boingo connection daemon to do the connections. But I have not traveled to the UK. I did connect to BTopenzone in the States.

I managed to login to Boingo in the lobby of a Premier Inn, and also at Paddington Station: one problem (especially at Paddington) is that there's no indication from Boingo which of the long list of networks is a partner network, so you have to know that e.g. BTOpenzone is the one to pick or else work your way through them all to see.

Thanks Duncan,
Deadmalc reported that a BT point works at Belfast, and heavyt used a BT point in the states, so maybe that is the one to try first.
I'll see if I can find any in my area to experiment with.
