Dictionary problems

I've had the N800/OS2008 for 2 days and have run into my first problem. I installed mdictionary following the directions posted under the RisibleGirl thread dated 4-25-07. Everything installed ok and the supplied Finnish dictionaries work. I tried installing Italian dictionaries (xdxf files) and they "installed" but I get an error message that there is no dictionary available. I reinstalled with the same result.

I am new to the N800 and have little programming experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know about mdictionary, but I've been very satisfied with sdict, which has lots of dictionaries. Use my 1st Newbie link below, with sdict

http://maemo.org/downloads/OS2008/

and search for sdict

Then, for dictionaries, search regular Google for sdict.
