Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
Recently nokia announced the opening of a slew of music store sites for some countries(Not yet in the US)
http://musicstore.nokia.com/ One good feature of the music store is that with a pc you can stream any song with a monthly 10$ plan. Now as of now this is available only for the pc and with IE 6 and above(no firefox) So when nokia eventually releases the US store and also compatibility for firefox...... it will be a great asset to the internet tablets as we can stream unlimited music through it!! |
Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
Only for pc and IE6..... and not in the u.s. (I assume canada is another story all together...)
Sounds like a heck of a deal. not. That's a long way from running on an IT or anything I use at home. I never did get into the music store thing, never owned an iPod or downloaded music either. My ancient collection of music on everything from vinyl, cassettes and CDs is still going strong especially when ripped for the IT. :) |
Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
i have a shoutcast server with a web interface and that is the greatest streaming music system ever

Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
Yeah, the IE-only problem might be the main obstacle. Nokia is just stupid for excluding other browsers.
IcelandDreams, most music player owners just rip physical music as you do. I think that will change though once we start seeing these "all you can eat" packages become available. Nokia seems to be first out of the gate with "Comes With Music" (where you buy a CWM-branded phone and it includes a year's worth of downloads which you can keep), but I'm sure we'll see everyone and their uncle doing it soon. |
Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
Well the music store has been opened only recently..... weeks i suppose. Many sites like UK, australia etc are already up and running and so will the US. Remember that it is still in beta. But the 10$/month deal is sweet!

Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
I thought there were all manner of all you can eat music plans. Maybe I just assumed that because the all you can eat plan is a U.S. tradition (even Chinese restaurants [gringofied]). Everyone seems to have come up with yet another monthly plan, even those silly mops that take proprietary pads. I don't know, maybe it is just me but I'm not impressed by giving out a credit card for automatic payments for anything. I don't spend $10/month on average as it is so I'd be hard pressed to go for this.
sachin you must really like your music or I've had too many decades head start to want to keep buying on a regular basis. same for books, I still have some that need to be read before buying more. Oddly enough that in the land of the all you can eat buffet and "unlimited bandwidth" they still don't have universal health care or extensive public transit. I'd pay $10/month for those kinds of plans... :) |
Re: Nokia music store and Internet tablets??
I must admit to never being keen on those sort of plans. Some months I would want $100 worth of music, some months nothing. I have never really liked subscription anything. It is ok on the phone, as it is higher than I would use when I am using it a lot but otherwise I am not bothered.
Seems it must be a common point of view, as the nokia music store in the UK has failed to drum up any real interest at all. |
