New N800
I am planning on getting a N800 this weekend. I was planning on getting a 4gb SDHC card and use it in the internal slot. Since it comes with OS2007, can I put this SD card in. I had downloaded the manual and it states that it can use up to a 2GB SD card. I understand that OS2008 can used bigger SD Cards. So until I upgrade to OS2008 should I just use a 2GB card. Then after the upgrade, put in the 4GB card into the Internal slot. thanks.

Re: New N800
The 4G likely works but why not flash it right after the first battery charge before putting the 4G in it. BTW, my 8G works fine as well. If the 4G doesn't work then you'll know right away so nothing lost.

Re: New N800
OS2007 supports exactly the same cards OS2008 does.

Re: New N800
The 4GB works, but some versions of OS2007 under some circumstances corrupt some SD cards, so I would flash first, either to the latest OS2007 (if you want to play with it, for whatever reason) or to the latest OS2008 (my recommendation).

Re: New N800
My 8 GB (R.I.P.) and 16 GB SDHC cards worked with OS 2007.

Still, OS2007 sucks. Just flash to OS2008 as soon as you can. |
Re: New N800
Currently ships, from who? He didn't say what vendor, and it's possibly very old stock... unlikely, but better to be scared than sorry, I thought.

Re: New N800
Thanks for all the replies. I plan to order it through Tigerdirect. I plan to order a Kingston 4gb SD card. I am really not sure to order this SD Card or the Sandisk 4GB card. My thinking is the Kingston is a class 6 vs Sandisk is a class 2. Would one be better then the other?
It seems for the postings that a SD card doesn't need to be in either slot. I guess to leave it empty when I flash it. I was planning to upgrade to OS2008 as soon as I get it anyway. Then put the card in. Thanks for the advice. |
Re: New N800
Go for cheaper. SanDisk has an insane markup that's not justified in any way shape or form.

Re: New N800
I'd recommend SanDisk, 'cause I've never had a problem with my SanDisk cards.
They do tend to be expensive, unless you can find a deal, like the excellent rebate currently available on class 6 SanDisks purchased at camera stores. For example, Beachcamera has the 4GB class 6 Sandisk for $49 with a $30 rebate ($19 after rebate). |
