Hello.

How can i do it?
Thanks

menu > maps > manage maps

Then change the "Cache DB" field to point somewhere on the internal memory card, I believe it's "/media/mmc2". You'll have to change the setting separately for each map service. Map services are selected from the dropdown box.

By internal memory, do you mean the internal SD card, or the flash internal to the unit? If the latter, you won't be able to save much, because the maps are large and the installed memory is comparatively small. You can still use the method above, but use /home/user/whatever instead of /media/mmc2, where 'whatever' is a folder in your user directory. You could also use just /home/user. With SD cards being so cheap, I have no idea why you would want to do that, but it's possible to get some in there, depending on what else you have installed.

Oh, ok. thanks.
How many hours does the Nokia n810 work using the gps tracking (from maemo-mapper)?
Thanks
Bye

I have no idea. If you have an external power source it will work indefinitely. I don't know how long the battery life is.

The power consumption of the N810 with both GPS on and tracking and display on does use quite a bit of power. Expect about 4 hours.

Having charger connected helps, but it may not give you infinite time: I used N810 GPS with MaemoMapper couple months back. When it chimed the low battery alarm I plugged it into my cigarette lighter charger. It said charging, but still after about two hours it finally said "recharge battery" and shut down. (The charger was a cheap model from eBay, thus may be lower current rating than others... YMMV.)

Re: Maemo mapper: maps in internal memory

Can i use my nokia n810 for 15 hours (ever gps with maemo mapper tracking and some hours (4-5) with canola or other player/apps.certainly, when i'm not using player or other apps i take off the screen)??
Another question: Is possible to track gps without maemo mapper, for reduce power use and system resources? Is there any app that work in background, without maps (I want only the gpx file or something to see the track on my pc with google earth/maps or another map...). Maybe it wil be good Gps tracer? What do you think about? Does using gps tracer save more energy and system resources than using maemo mapper for tracking?
Thanks
Bye

I drove from nc to ny round trip, with the N810 plugged in, on all the time, the tablet was never running low, it ran the whole 10 hrs trip (one way) with no problem, twice. The tablet was on gps with lock and tethered to a cellphone for inet access. I am driving a Pontiac Vibe which has a 110V ac outlet in the car. I think your problem is plugged in after the N810 power was depleted and that is always a problem which I will report later this week.

Maemo mapper and gps are two separate items. They can be used together or separately as two different items. Gps can be turned on/off via NaviMap, xterm or maemo mapper. And maemo mapper can be used with/without gps.

Re: Maemo mapper: maps in internal memory

I've use my N800 (not an N810 of course) on 10+ hour trips, and the battery was completely full at the end, every time. I use a cable I got off ebay for almost nothing, plugged into a USB charger in my cig lighter outlet, and it charges far quicker than my bluetooth GPS and Maemo Mapper run it down. You should be able to run almost anything you want simultaneously for all day, as long as you have a proper power source connected.
