Major step taken with UPNP streaming & this N800 thing!
The secret to my success was TVersity and Media Streamer.
I was looking to the N800 as a proof of concept for a personal media player, among other things. I have a wireless access point and a Vista machine with 100 ripped CDs, recorded HD TV shows, etc. I wanted to access this media and tried to use the Windows Media Player to "watch" folders, which didn't work too good. I didn't want to learn Linux or do anything with "root". I wanted more polished apps. I also got tired of converting the video into something the N800 could use. Anyway, I heard about TVersity here and I am really amazed at how good it works. It even streams the VOB files from a DVD into N800 video, not to mention high bandwidth HD mpeg2 files. Someone said that Canola would stream, using TVersity, but I can't seem to be able to do that. There is no option under folders to choose the media share. By the way, I use Canola to monitor and download onto my n800 podcasts that I can listen to later offline. Gpodder is not solid enough for me at this point. Any other podcast apps I missed ( that saves the cast locally on the N800)? So I'm getting there, with the N800. The only problem is these reading glasses I have to wear to be able to see the 4" screen. I guess I'll be continuing to prove the concept until they release a tablet with a 7 or 8 inch screen. |

Canola 1 can stream UPNP, not 2 :)

Hei guys :) good news, in beta9 (next week!!!) upnp is finally back! :)
We will need all testing / real user efforts to make a great and solid upnp support ok? We are testing with Tversity, Twonky and the classic video games :) Marcelo |
