N64 emulator a possibility?
I just got my n800 a few weeks ago and i was wondering if its possible to emulate n64. I know that psx emulation has already been made possible at a slow fps rate so why cant an n64 emulator run at a preferable speed; also found some linux emulators;

Re: N64 emulator a possibility?
Doubtful....I can't even get any of the NES emulators to run at better than ~5fps. I still can't figure that one out, since the IT is way more powerful than a 20+ year old console.

have you seen fceus ultra i have full nes action + your first prob is trying to get fast running nes on a n770 im sure somebody can compile a descent n64 emulator like dr snes or quake who will be the hero

Re: N64 emulator a possibility?
Not quite.
The NeoGeo emulator performs really well on the 770. FMS's emulators might perform ok, but at least they don't run on OS2006, so I don't know. I think a decent NES on the 770 would be possible. (Although the complexity of the mappers would be trouble.) Of course, the 800 and 810 are much faster. Now, as for an N64 emu, not a chance on the 770. No way. The N64 is 3D. There is no 3D library currently on the 800/810. And I'd be shocked if software 3D (mesa) would give you reasonable performance in an emu, even on the 8x0's. desiv |

Ahh curse you Nokia for not giving tablets any 3d software:mad:

Re: N64 emulator a possibility?
We've got decent 3D software that could be ported/optimized. What we lack is 3D hardware and we continually curse Nokia for that :P
I may be wrong, but I believe the OMAP-2 chips (the processor set) HAVE 3D accelerators in them, but the drivers are not included on the NITs but are included on some nokia phones :/ |

But the reason we have them is because OMAP chips, unlike x86 desktop processors are bundled chips with everything integrated into the same chip. So functions are enabled and disabled through firmware, not hardware. It's a ******ed system, I know. I wish there was some way we could get drivers for the 3D systems and JavaVM. |
