Just wanted to make a post from my First install of Linux on a desktop. I swear the site even looks better lol.

Which distribution are you running? Ubuntu? Fedora? Suse?

Have fun :)
Quick hint to have super fun: If you are running Ubuntu, go to System -> Preferences -> Appearance and enjoy playing with the font (among other things). It's nice to be able to read everything one's own way.

I had a Linux Mint desktop and liked it a lot!
It is based on Ubuntu and Daryna was based on Gutsy Gibbon.

(4 yrs now without a legit MS login on my box)

Yeah I'm using Daryna right now but they got a new one I might try. I'm still a real big Linux Newb I feel at home on a Linux Webserver Terminal but when it sitting right infront of me its a little scary.

I haven't had good luck with the latest Mint, but I am deliriously happy with Sidux, a cutting-edge version of Debian. I'm using Window Maker as a window manager, but KDE or any of the more mainstream options are fine as well.

I have been using openSUSE for the last few years, prior to that Fedora - and before that kernel 0.95. Ubuntu and Debian just didn't seem to work right for me.

Try the cool eye-candy stuff like Compiz and Compiz Fusion. Still makes people go "ooohh..ahhhh" when they see my transparent 3D cube with fire effects and such.

I haven't logged into my windows partition in months, and I only need my WindowsXP VM for a few things I can't get to work on Linux. Windows is all but dead here. Now if I could just get my wife to take the plunge.

Well so far I have only found one of my programs I couldn't run on linux and that is Ventrilo but I am using Wine and the windows version works fine.

The only thing I need my VM for of all things is Army Coorespondence Courses. The site chokes on Firefox and sometimes on IE7. Go figure. I think it has to do with ActiveX.

Everything else I have gotten working in Wine so far.
