nethack problem
 

Hi,
Nethack v3.4.3 for my n800 os 2008 stoped working today. The game opens but when I choose a new name and tap OK the game just exit. I tried to reinstall it but same problem.
Any idea?

And if someone knows how to backup a saved game I would be really interested to learn how.

Did you check that your internal memory isn't full?

Also you could try starting nethack from the X Terminal to see if it spits out an error message or if it's maybe a segfault.

PS. Backing up savegames is cheating ;-) You could go to explore mode though...

In xterm go to /home/user/.nethackdir and remove all *.lock.* files. I had the same issue and this fixes it.

thanks but i m a noob with xterm.

I wrote :
cd /home/user/.nethackdir
then
ls
and I can see a few files that look like alock.0, block.1 ...

How do i delete them?

rm alock.0

Saved games are stored in ~/MyDocs/.documents/.games/ make a duplicate you're all set.

yes it works. Also known as Save scumming. :)
