Network shares
 

I've read various reports on people having issues sharing files from their xp box and/or linux box to their nokia. I'm able to see my shares from my vista laptop, play them too. My linux samba shares however, this is the real problem. I'm using ubuntu and have shares using samba with users and passwords. I can see the shared folders, but my nokia says the folder is empty, which I know to be false. Any thoughts? Thank you.

What user does the Nokia "see" the share as? Does that user have rights to the share?

OS2008 cannot natively mount password-protected SMB shares. However, there is a nifty program to do just that: Wizard Mounter. It's a GUI frontend to mount SMB and NFS shares, with bookmarking. I've had a lot of success with it for SMB under OS2008 (I can't speak to its NFS abilities).

As I am thankful for this site, and the many people that help, answers don't always work out. I've tried to install wizard mounter on my N800 OS2008 and I get "Application package missing: rx-34-kernel-modules-extra portmap" ? I'm missing something I don't understand here. Thank you again.

Ok, I have added the new repo list, and wizard has installed, but I still don't see anything from my samba shares, other than the folder list.
