Senior Member ?!?
Ok ... merely crossing the 100 post threshold ought not = seniority!
There ought to be a test! How about this - pass your CLP and have 200 thanks, then you qualify. Therefore, my new signature, just to warn everyone. Steve |
Re: Senior Member ?!?
So that's why I'm still "junior", even after lurking here for over a year and a half. I'm going to start posting "me too" after every topic i see. :p

Re: Senior Member ?!?
I'm "senior member " yet I'm still not very good with Linux! I'm more of a Vista guy (for now) :)
I hope i don't get flamed for my OS orientation, if I do, is that segregation? lol to come back to the topic, maybe we should have more "types of member" than just junior and senior ? how about adding a couple more in between, you don't suddenly become a Linux guru when u pass from 99 posts to 100, it takes times, patience, hours spent messing around on a tablet, and A LOT of ITT reading :D |
Re: Senior Member ?!?
i wholeheartedly agree with el amir except for vista......heck i have to look up in google half of what i read..well more like 3/4 we need a middle ground...maybe apprentice senior member...then journeyman senior member...etc...

Re: Senior Member ?!?
Senior member only means you have 100 post its really just to give you a bigger PM box. But Reggie could make some new titles for certin people that know what they are talking about.

Re: Senior Member ?!?
Well, we do have more than just Junior and Senior; there's just plain "Member", between about 25 (not sure on this end) and 100. Quite frankly, the whole thing seems pointless to me; I can look at the number of posts just fine by myself, and don't generally ascribe much assumption of experience or knowledge based on post counts. You can mostly tell by the post content anyway...
Edit: Ahh... missed your post, Andrew. That makes sense; I hadn't really used PMs to speak of before I was a senior, so I didn't notice that. Still, I don't think, even with more graduations, a post count is useful for as a measure of anything more than post quantity. (Once it gets above Junior status, anyway; it does help catch spammers.) |
Re: Senior Member ?!?
I don't think we need more labels or hierarchy. We already have the ultimate label -- it's called the user name.

Re: Senior Member ?!?
I agree with geneven, which is why I created the user name RacerX, in honor of the Deeps Rerac tooncar.
O wait-- |
Re: Senior Member ?!?
And, btw, I don't think that the number of thanks is a good measure. Texrat, the inventor of the "sardonic Thanks", made that impossible. Moreover, we have had many threads in which thanks were traded like baseball cards.

Re: Senior Member ?!?
I was thinking more like Titles like Developer that Reggie could give to people who are know Developers or something like Helper that Reggie could give people who know knowledgeable about maemo and the tablets so the new people know they can trust them. Don't make it based on post count make it based on if they know what there talking about.
